More fabric Christmas trees

Here are a couple of new fabric Xmas trees I just finished. I need to adjust the little vintage snowman on top of the pink tree. That one is for my sister and the red tree is for a friend. The red tree has a vintage Santa perched on top and has vintage Shiny Brite balls on it.
I'm working on another fabric tree for my sister in law.
Love to all,
Cindy

The Magic of Christmas

You know, this season truly is magical. I was sitting stitching little things onto a fabric Christmas tree I'm making for a friend and I slowly became aware of a neat feeling. A feeling of kinship with our ancestors of old--the settlers and others who did everything by hand, before the advent of the sewing machine. The ones who created handmade gifts for their families and friends. The tradition of giving handmade gifts should not ever be lost.
It's such a wonderful feeling. There is an infusion of a teeny piece of one's soul into a handmade gift. It truly is magical.

Another Mermaid

Here is another mermaid. She is the same approximate size as the other one, probably around 9-10" altogether. This one is a Xmas present for my stepmother. This is the first doll I've made for her in recent years and I hope she's going to like it. If she doesn't, she will almost certainly tell me. The fringed tails on these mermaids are actually quite a bit of work. It involves laboriously picking the threads of the fabric that makes up the tail until all of it is fringey like that.
I also have a new pocket misfit just about finished. Hooray! I'm also working on some sort of primitivey and some shabby chic-ish smallish fabric Christmas trees for presents for friends and my husband's family.
We're supposed to get some snow here tomorrow. This is a reason for celebration if the weather people are actually correct and we DO get snow. Our area hasn't had appreciable snowfall for at least the past couple of years. This area used to get pretty decent amounts of snow, years ago.
So, it's going to be an event!! Hubby and I will try to get pics. : )
Love to all,
Cindy
